It’s that time of year again, when the temperature starts to drop and people start considering switching the heating back on, which leads me to a question: In every house I’ve lived in, the room thermostat has been situated in the hall, not the living room or bedrooms. What is the logic in controlling the heating based on temperature in a room you don’t actually live in, except to move to another room, or answer the front door?
So the Environment Agency has commissioned a survey and come out with the statement that up to 41% of people in the UK are unaware of the risk of flooding to their homes.
So who holds this information about who’s at risk of flooding? Guess what, it’s the Environment Agency.
The blindingly obvious question is: Why doesn’t the Environment Agency just tell these people they are at risk – problem solved without wasting time and tax payers’ money on pointless surveys?
What is it with Americans and coffee? A visitor from another planet watching American film and television would be led to believe that coffee was a class A drug.
They seem obsessive about how much they drink and how it should not be given to anyone under 21. Everyone who drinks it seems to be strangely affected. Is this the same coffee we drink in the UK, or does it have some other ingredient?
Well, it’s September and the biggest clue that the summer is over, is that my journey to work now takes 33% longer. Yes, the schools have gone back.
I still don’t understand how the school run affects traffic at 7 o’clock in the morning when school starts at 9.
What also doesn’t make sense is that the traffic on the motorway is so much heavier. I could understand increased traffic on local roads, especially around schools, but why does the school traffic increase the motorway traffic?
What happened to walking or cycling to school, or even getting a bus?
Here’s a question: Why do all insurance adverts have the small print at the bottom of the screen “Excludes Northern Ireland”?
What do people in Northern Ireland do for insurance?
Why do people slow down to 40mph to pass a speed camera in a 50mph limit?
Don’t they trust their speedometers? Do they think they’ll get done for 48mph? or maybe they simply have no idea what the limit is.
